Friendship with God gives you a purpose in the context of all the other aspects of your life. Your family, your job, your past, and present; even the parts of your life you wish you could change or erase. Having a friend in Jesus revitalizes everything.
Building a rich history with God doesn’t just energize your life, set you on a path of righteousness or transform your understanding of the world. It is exactly what you are made for. As you consider this truth, ask yourself: how do I view my friendship with God? As a chore? An exciting opportunity? Maybe you have some fears over learning to let God fully into your routines and life. Take the time to share this with the Holy Spirit in prayer, or even write it out in a journal. God thinks that you are literally to die for, this is what covenant with Him looks like.
Friendship with God is a Promise
Friendship alongside God is a guarantee. The door to God’s heart is open to you, and your daily “yes” to Him will flourish as you put effort into building your friendship. While it’s a free gift, you get to choose to pursue Jesus in the way that He pursues you. Like Adam, walking with God in the garden, you have access to the thoughts of God through the word of God (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit living inside you.

Choosing Jesus daily looks like conversation, worship, and communion. Sharing your thoughts as you rise in the morning and throughout your day is a simple way to stay connected. Reading the world regularly and building a relationship with the text will give you context for all other parts of your walk with God. Share with others how God is speaking to you! Before you know it, you will realize your daily communion with God is your most intimate relationship yet.
