In a recent episode of A Life You Love with host Renee Evans, Havilah Cunnington talks about motherhood.
Motherhood
The two mothers who also work in the ministry shared their experiences as mothers. They talked about the difficulties that come with balancing motherhood and work life. They also discussed how they were able to get rid of “mom guilt,” the guilt feeling in motherhood.
“Stop expecting yourself to be an expert in a season you’ve never been in before,” Havilah said.

She then shared her experience of how she relied on the Holy Spirit during her difficult time as a mother.
“What really mattered was my relationship with the Holy Spirit, and asking Him what He wanted me to do, and doing that no matter what anybody else thought,” she said.
“Lean into the purpose that God has for our lives and asking for strategy. Instead of just trying to read a book, or ask somebody to tell me what I’m going to do with my kids, or how our parents raised us. We’re looking for a divine strategy just like our call, we’re looking for a divine strategy in our mothering.”
Mom Guilt
There will never be a “perfect mother” and no mother can be called successful or unsuccessful. It is not a role where we can fail or pass, it is a calling from God that humbles us.
“I don’t think mothering is a place where we feel the most successful. I think mothering is the place where we feel the most humbled.”
When asked by Renee what Havilah does to live a life that she loves, she said a very powerful message. She urged everyone to ignore losses and celebrate success.
“Any time I’m feeling that it [life] needs to be perfect, I realize that I’m putting standards to myself that God would never put on me. He knows what it’s like to be human and He knows that we can celebrate our success even in times of losing.”
