Shoham: A Thriving Young Town of Israel

Shoham is a rapidly growing city in the heart of the nation of Israel. With a population of around 20,000, Shoham is the desired spot to live in and where many young, educated Israelis live. This central city is found to be a great place to settle down near Tel Aviv and located in the middle of one of Israel’s largest business centers. If you are visiting Israel sometime soon, you won’t want to miss this gem to explore with your friends and family. It’s rural beauty and culture are one to make you feel welcome.

History of Shoham

The original vision for Shoham, Israel was for it to be a town for a rural community for farmers. The first couple hundred homes were built in the 1990s, not too long ago. It has been thriving ever since with great educational systems and opportunities. The flag of Shoham has a shield-shaped pattern on it and the name Shoham was given to represent the breastplate stone set in the high priests’ clothes as he served in Jerusalem.

Shoham Culture

In the last 25 years or so, Shoham has become a popular city to live and is known to have great cultivation of land, green areas, and parks. There are many developmental policies for environmental sustainability. This vibrant urban center is well known for not just the great quality of life but for its great location. It is right in the middle of the largest business center in Israel with the largest sources of jobs. There are industrial parks, aircraft industries, and also airport logistics centers located throughout.

Shoham culture involves many cultural events including national holidays and festivals. There is a well-known performing arts center where all ages can join theater, sing-alongs, entertainment shows, and more. Many cultural pieces of art are displayed throughout the performing arts center as well. Shoham puts on a “Muses Festival” where tens of thousands from Shoham and Israel attend annually.

Places to Visit

If you plan to visit anytime soon, make sure to not miss these treasures mentioned. Shoham has a rare treasure called the Shoham Forest Park of about 500 acres of land! This park includes neat walking and riding trails as well as archeological ruins and a beautiful mosaic floor of the ancient Byzantine church. Neot Kedumin is another site to see that is located midway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. This is a biblical landscape reserve that is a biblical garden and nature preserve that means “pleasant pastures.”
